Acupuncture needles are inserted into tight muscle bands or trigger points, which triggers a reflexive relaxation of the muscle, initiates healing of the tissue, and restores normal nerve function. IMS is usually prescribed in combination with manual or exercise therapy programmes. Your therapist will advise whether IMS would be an appropriate treatment option based on your assessment results.
